Château du Clos de Vougeot
Introduction
At the heart of Burgundy's wine region, the Château du Clos de Vougeot is a unique site where a love of terroir exists side by side with age-old tradition. Around 1110 the monks of Cîteaux Abbey established a domain between Chambolle-Musigny and Vosne-Romanée. Equipped with buildings for wine-making, it was quickly enclosed by a two mile long wall. The central courtyard was formed by the addition of the Renaissance wing in 1551, and so the Cistercian wine-farm became the Château du Clos de Vougeot. If, today, it no longer owns any vines and has no wine to sell, the Château du Clos de Vougeot remains a symbol of almost one thousand years of Burgundy's history.
The Château du Clos de Vougeot can be hired for private functions. With their unique savoir-faire, the resident chef ans his team throughout the year prepare receptions catering for 50 - 600 guests. The Château regularly organizes weddings, anniversaries, birthday parties ans seminars.
