The Mauges, an authentic territory
Introduction
Far from mass tourism, the Mauges offer original opportunities to enjoy nature, on foot or by bike, on the banks of the Loire with its breathtaking panoramas and sometimes amazing sculptures.
The Mauges territory offers probably one of the most authentic sections of the Loire à Vélo and without any doubt exceptional panoramas with its villages located on promontories allowing to admire the last wild river of Europe at every season and every hour. The route is for the most part flat, following the Loire. The cyclist will only have to set foot on land exceptionally to discover remarkable places and panoramas.
This is the case in Champtoceaux which offers a majestic view of the royal river. A little further on, the cyclist can make a slight detour to Liré, probably the most famous village in the Mauges and the Loire Valley.
Then one discovers on this section of the Loire à Vélo the slopes of the vineyard of Muscadet Coteaux de la Loire, a typical white wine of the edges of the Loire. A grape variety that you can taste once you arrive in Saint-Florent-Le-Vieil, a small city of character.
The Loire à Vélo in the Mauges ends finally in Montjean-sur-Loire. A last splendid sight on the Loire with here and there giant and astonishing sculptures.
