The Peninsula of Giens

Introduction

Its double tombolo is an almost unique formation in the world. A tombolo ? A coastal strip that connects an ancient island to the coast. Two beautiful sandy spires, great places for swimming and sailing water sports, which enclose ancient salt pans, refuges for nearly 300 species of birds. Before melting into the sea, the peninsula stretching south of Hyères takes the shape of a rocky and wooded caudal fin, cut by marvelous creeks.
