Lavender fields of Plateau de Valensole
Introduction
Endless rows of mauve... If you come in June or July at the height of the flowering season, the fields of the Valensole plateau offer a fairy-tale vision that never ceases to symbolize eternal Provence. The agriculture of the Valensole plateau is deeply marked by the cultivation of lavender and lavandin, used for the manufacture of Marseille soap, by local beekeepers or distilled for perfume or scents.
The Lavender Festival takes place every year in Valensole on the third Sunday of July.
