Nancy and the New Art
Introduction
If Nancy symbolizes Art new, it is because it saw the birth of artistic movement that was born at the beginning of the 19th century.
It was in the city of Lorraine that Emile Gallé, Louis Majorelle, Jacques Grüber and the Daum brothers all participated in the revival of decorative arts and the creation of the Nancy School in 1901.
Art Nouveau touches on fields as varied as architecture, furniture, glassware and lighting and is inspired by local flora and fauna through different materials (glass, wood, ceramic, wrought iron, ...).
